Adventures in Digital History

This site is a showcases some of my work and the work created by my students in my digital history courses.
Critical pedagogy, critical thinking, and digital literacy underlie everything I teach at CSULB. By injecting critical- and inquiry-driven pedagogies, and downplaying facts-based, narrative-style curriculums in my courses, I introduce my students to the way historians work and the questions we ask, and I encourage them to develop critical reasoning/thinking skills that will teach them to view their world with an informed and more critical eye. By adding digital literacy and a variety of digital methods to my curriculum, especially the digital tools that are available to help historians do their work, my students learn a wide range of skills and methods, both online and off, that have applications beyond the classroom and develop essential skills for 21st century life.
